What are Employers Looking for?

Once you complete our security training courses, we can assist you in becoming prepared for your job search. The first thing you need to be aware of is what the empolyers are looking for. As a security officer or security guard you have many options available to finding the security industry that suits you.

Employers also want to find the right person to work for them. Make sure you have a resume. And remember you will automatically be disqualified if you are deceitful on your resume. A resume should be prove that the applicant has read that job requirements and is caable of the work required of them for that position. And as with all resumes, it should be checked for spelling errors and be orderly and professional.

A professional appearance is a must. This is especially true if you want a position as a uniformed security guard. This means a trimmed hair cut, and clean clothes that are worn properly with shirt tucked in.

Employers also have tools in determining your aptitude, insight, personality, and genuineness. They may interview a prospective security guard, administer a test, or both.

No employer wants to get sued because their security officer was overly aggressive and hurt someone without just cause. The security officer or armed guard reflects the company. So having a friendly personality or a demeanor that says, “Don’t mess with me” depends on the job that needs to be done. You wouldn’t want to scare little kids and customers if you work at a grocery store, however you wouldn’t want to be approachable if your are an armored car guard.
