FLORIDA CLASS “D” SECURITY LICENSE

To become a Security Guard/Security Officer in the State of Florida students are required to complete the 40 Hours Florida Security Guard License Certification Course given at a Licensed Security School (DS) by a licensed Security Instructor (DI) which is regulated by the State of Florida Division of Licensing.

You will learn how to observe potential miscreants (criminals, offenders,ect.), how to write reports, how to use force without incurring liability, how to help prevent crimes and accidents, how to handle emergencies, as well as a few other skills that are essential to being a good security officer.

D License   – Security Unarmed Training (40 Hours)

Effective January 1, 2012 a person applying for a Class “D” Security Officer License will be required to take the full 40 Hours Training and provide proof (Certificate) that it was completed prior to initial application. D License Part 2 – Security Unarmed Training (16 Hours)                $ 65.00

Students that completed the D License Part I training need to return within 180 days (6 months) from the day you receive your certificate to take the  rest of the training, 16 Hours D License Part 2 to complete the 40 Hours required by the State of Florida and maintain the license.

To become an Armed Security Officer it is required the State Firearm License Class, which permits to carry firearms only in the performance of Security and Investigative Duties. The State of Florida requires the Security License Class “D” Training must be completed before applying for a Class “G” License. This Firearm “G” License must be renewed on an annual basis (4 hours).  A failure to renew it yearly, the State of Florida has the right to revoke the license and you will have to complete the G License course (28 hours) again.

Classroom Training- During your hours of classroom training, you will learn moral and legal aspects of firearms use, firearms nomenclature, weapons handling and shooting fundamentals, and emergency procedures.

Range Training-The hours of range training will give you practice in safely handling and firing your weapon.

G License- Security Armed Officer Training   (28 Hours)                    $180.00

With these two trainings the state of Florida allows you to work as an armed security officer.

With the D part I, you will be able to get a temporary D license to work as a security officer, until D part II will be completed.
